Registration and call for abstracts now open for the Association of Law Teachers 2026 Annual Conference, to be held at the University of Exeter Law School on 16-17 April 2026

The University of Exeter Law School and the Association of Law Teachers are delighted to share that registration is now open for the ALT2026 Annual Conference, themed ‘Reimagining Legal Education for the Future of Law’. The conference will take place on 16-17 April 2026 at Exeter Law School’s Streatham campus. Please visit the conference website here.

The ALT2026 Annual Conference offers an opportunity for academics, professionals and practitioners to convene and exchange ideas, great practice, and opportunities to collaborate and ready our learners for the future. In particular, the conference will focus on pedagogical innovations related to teaching and assessment, human-centred legal education, and the development of emerging skills and competencies into the core law curriculum: from soft skills and professional ethics training to digital lawyering and entrepreneurial skills, including the use of AI and other technologies.

Fees and registration details are available here. Please register early to secure your delegate place and, separately, your place at the conference dinner. The link to book campus accommodation will be available on the ‘Where To Stay’ page on the conference website from August 2025.

The call for abstracts is now open here. Whilst submissions can relate to any element of legal education pertaining to the overall theme, we specifically invite proposals for panels, workshops and papers on the following:

  • The future of legal education and the legal profession;
  • Legal project management, legal prompt engineering, gamification, legal information design and legal design thinking in the Law School;
  • Responsible, ethical and inclusive integration of Artificial Intelligence into teaching and assessment;
  • Legal skills, clinical legal education and other experiential learning opportunities;
  • Interdisciplinary, human-centered legal education;
  • Entrepreneurship and legal education;
  • Professional ethics in legal education;
  • Social justice and sustainability in the university Law School;
  • Decolonisation, EDI and curriculum design; and
  • Wellbeing and widening access to legal education and the legal profession.
